Selecting the right tactics for your team will be crucial to your team's sucess. You need to make sure that your players are suited to the tactical approach you want to take for your team.
Play Styles
There are three different playstyles that you need to pick for your team. These playstyles will determine how you want your team to perform on the pitch.

This is the core playstyle and methodology that all the players in your team will adhere to.

On The Ball Playstyle
This is what your team does when they are in possession of the ball.
Direct Plays
When in possession, your team will directly penetrate space, mainly creating space by using physical power and forcing defensive mistakes from opposition players.
Short Plays
When in possession your team will carefully penetrate space and keep possession by cycling possession, mainly creating space by drawing players out of position.
Balanced
Your team will attack with a balance or mixture of direct plays and short plays.
Off The Ball Playstyle
This is what your team does when they are not in possession of the ball.
Agressive Defending
When out of possession your team will aggressively restrict space in more advanced areas by applying more defensive pressure.
Cautious Defending
When out of possession your team will cautiously protect space and retain compactness in deeper areas by inviting more attacking pressure from the opposition team.
Balanced
Your team will defend with a balance or mixture of aggressive defending and cautious defending.

Tactics Familiarity Score
Playstyle Familiarity
Each game that a player plays with a particular playstyle, that player's playstyle familiarity will increase. The more intelligence the player has the more this score will increase per game.
Formation Familiarity
Each game that a player plays with a particular formation, that player's formation familiarity will increase. The more intelligence the player has the more this score will increase per game.
Position Familiarity
Each game that a player plays in a particular position, that player's position familiarity will increase. The more intelligence the player has the more this score will increase per game.
Captaincy
You can select one player as a captain for your team.
Other players in the team will also get a performance multipler based on the captain's performance and their leadership attribute.
Chemistry
There is also a chemistry score for the team. This is based on a wide range of factors including macro factors such as how many games the players have played together and micro factors like a two players playing well together by assisting each other.
There can also be chemistry boosts for the team by having players that have the same planetary citizenship.
Choosing Tactics
You will be able to alter your teams tactics at any time. If a game is in progress then the tactics will be set for the next game. If no changes are made to the tactics the same tactics from the last game will be applied.
Game Simulation
The game simulation will run over 90 real life mins. No tactics changes during the game can take effect. The simulaton will take in a wide range of factors from the player attributes to the tactics to determine the game's outcome.
